You’ll join nine other passionate, vibrant equine photographers, all working to build their photography businesses and live their dream. Sound competitive? It’s not – here at the Training Barn, we believe in building one another up and creating sustainable networks of contacts, who will become support systems and great friends.

Day One participants will enjoy two photoshoots, one 2hr shoot in the morning and one 2hr shoot after lunch, followed by a group Q&A session. These shoots will be with owners and horses in a beautiful location. This can be in the New Forest or on a private yard. We make sure we have a good mixture of locations and characters for you to enhance and perfect your photography. Join us for creative and inspiring shoots and grow your confidence and your portfolio!
Day Two participants will take part in a 2hr morning photoshoot, then, in the afternoon, we’ll do an image assessment and editing session – perfect for fine-tuning your process and making sure you’re getting the most out of your shots. We go through our pick and reject process and we will even edit with you, live, so you can learn our true techniques and how we both perfect our images ready for our clients. After that, we’ll dive into another Q&A.

Most applicants join us for both days, this gives you 3 full equine photo shoots, in 3 locations with 3 models. Giving you a full portfolio and marketing images that will last. If you are unable to join us for both days we encourage you to pick the day that suits you best (subject to spaces available). Spaces are offered on a strictly first-come, first-served basis, so don’t delay!

What do I get with my booking?

Depending on whether you book one or both days, you’ll take part in 1-3 photoshoots, each utilising a variety of locations and outfits to give you a dazzling array of new portfolio images and a wealth of knowledge and confidence
You’ll be shooting alongside Emily and Hannah, so you’ll benefit from their tips, tricks, and extensive photography knowledge, giving you loads more tools to use in your own shoots
You’ll be provided with lunch each day at the studio, giving you the chance to mingle with your fellow delegates
We’ll provide tonnes of advice on posing clients, which you’ll be able to learn on the job
Follow along as we teach you our session set up for success
We’ll cover natural light problem-solving, shooting in shade, sunshine, under cloud cover, and so on – and we’ll help you understand how to adjust and adapt to produce consistent images, no matter what the light is doing
You’ll join us as we go location scouting, refining your eye for creative backgrounds and unexpected hidden gems
You’ll take home your own Shoot Book, packed with tips, tricks and poses
You’ll also get access to our Model Call 101 guide, which helps you to find portfolio subjects and get your images into the big, wide world – without losing you any potential income in this area

What do I need to bring?

Your usual shooting equipment – your main camera body and a second body, if you use one

A telephoto zoom lens – we love the 70-200mm

A back-up battery

Plenty of memory cards

Your laptop, equipped with your editing software

A card reader

Wellies or sturdy boots

Layers – we never know what the British summer will bring!

A pocket notebook and pen to bring on location
